SyncEx Portlet Development Services includes developing customized portlet applications as per your specific needs.

We started portlet development activity more than 5 years ago when SyncEx product division was started. As a policy we have adhered to JSR 168 specification compliant portlet development. This was done to ensure that our portlet application products are compatible with all the JSR 168 compliant portal servers including but not limited to, popular portal servers like IBM Web Sphere, Liferay and Oracle. We have also verified our portlets on latest portlet 2.0 standard i.e. JSR 286.

Our Expertise

Expertise of SyncEx in portlet development has been achieved as a result of thousands of man hours, of hands on real world portlet application development projects. SyncEx has developed custom portlet applications for various companies over the years on multiple platforms. The vast experience in portlet development and working with multiple clients helps SyncEx to understand the intricacies of developing portlet applications in varied platform, which includes leveraging the features offered by portal server to the maximum.

Although portlets are also web applications, there are certain possibilities and limitations which are specific to portlets. Due to this reason, while developing portlets, these issues should be kept in mind. SyncEx has developed more than two dozen portlet applications as a part of its product offering and has the experience of developing and deploying portlets in complex enterprise environments. This experience also helps SyncEx to foresee potential pitfalls and take decisions to avoid the designs which can cause trouble while deploying the portlets.

Development Model

SyncEx has its own framework called Yash Portlet Framework (YPF), which helps us to develop portlet applications rapidly. When you choose SyncEx as your development partner you get the benefit of developing the application in a proven framework. Developing the portlet application in YPF leads to reduced development time, makes the code portable and easier to maintain and as a result overall savings in development cost and faster delivery.

Till now SyncEx has been developing portlets for clients on demand basis but now SyncEx has decided to use its vast experience in portlet development to help clients develop robust portlets within an affordable budget. During project execution SyncEx would allocate a senior resource for the requirement gathering and analysis phase. During the requirements phase we also provide you our designer who can help you to create prototypes which will help in visualizing end product and making wise decisions. If requested, we would be happy to share our experience in making the right choice and design based on our past experiences.

Once requirements are frozen and team is decided, you can have direct access to our team which will be involved in the development. We use an open source web based project/task tracker called Clocking IT. This will provide control to you and enable you to track the progress of the project.

For UAT, you can either take the services of our tester or do it in house. For that SyncEx may host the application on our machine and provide you access or you may also deploy it on your own environment and do the testing. On completion of the project on mutually agreed criteria based on the requirements, we will submit a Lessons Learned report to you which will be a valuable reference for your future projects.

Types of Customization

SyncEx offers two types of Custom Development Services.

Develop and deliver from scratch: Here you dictate the requirements as we develop the portlets to fulfill the requirement.

Customize an already existing SyncEx portlet: You can customize any of our existing portlets to fit your requirements. You get the advantages of quicker development time and reduced costs. Since you will already have a product to start with, you can visualize more easily how it will look and which feature you would like to get added.
